Philip Miller
 
Background
Philip B. Miller has spent almost his entire 37 year career in leadership positions with some of the most iconic names in the American luxury department store business. He is also on the board of several non-profit & corporate organizations.

Experience
From 2001 to present, In addition to running a successful consultancy firm – Philip Miller acted as Interim CEO for St. John’s Knit Inc. on whose Boards he continues to serve.

From 1990 - 2001 Mr. Miller served as Principal, as well as Chairman & CEO of Saks Fifth Avenue.- a company which grew its geographical reach to 50 SFA and 33 Off Fifth stores nationwide. He originated the idea of the Off Fifth stores which targeted a value oriented customer, generating $ 500m in sales at a very high margin. The Saks First Loyalty program was also launched during this period, as was the first international store in Riyadh, KSA. Mr. Miller’s tenure saw the renovation of many stores based on a NY chic art deco motif that is now iconic of the cachet of the brand. SFA went public in 1996 by which time sales had increased from $ 1.4 Million at the beginning of his stewardship to over $ 2.0 Billion by 1997 and over $ 3.0 Billion by 2001 at the end of his tenure.

From 1983- 1990  In his capacity as Chairman & CEO of Marshall Fields, Mr. Miller significantly enhanced the value of one of America’s great retail franchises, so that its shareholders realized a significant profit when Marshall Fields was sold in 1990 for $ 1.04 Billion.

From 1977-1983 Serving as President of Neiman Marcus, the but with responsibilities for merchandising, marketing, store operations & catalogues, Neiman Marcus’ doubled its number of doors as well as sales & profit.
